Overview

The regulator dial is one of watchmaking's most distinctive complications — born not from fashion, but from function. Observatory timekeepers and master clockmakers separated the hour, minute, and seconds displays to eliminate any ambiguity in reading the time. Dave Berghold's Model 3 brings that same purposeful architecture to the wrist, wrapped in a package that's as visually striking as it is historically grounded.

The Dial

At the center of the Model 3 is a guilloché-engraved silver dial featuring an intricate rosetta pattern that shifts and catches light with every movement of the wrist. The regulator layout places the hour sub-dial at 12 o'clock and the seconds sub-dial at 6, while a single long minute hand sweeps from the center — each indication clearly rendered in Roman and Arabic numerals. Heat-blued steel hands provide brilliant contrast against the silvered surface, a finishing touch synonymous with fine watchmaking.

The Case

The 39mm stainless steel case is precision-machined and finished with a vintage-inspired coin edge — a subtle but satisfying detail you'll notice every time you pick it up. A sapphire crystal sits up top for clarity and scratch resistance, while a mineral glass caseback puts the movement on full display.

The Movement

Inside beats a Swiss-made Sellita SW266-1 in top grade — a movement purpose-built for regulator-style displays. It houses 31 jewels, runs with blued steel screws throughout, and delivers a 41-hour power reserve.

The Strap

The Model 3 ships on a caiman crocodile leather strap that only gets better with wear. Premium hide, cream contrast stitching, and a texture that develops character over time.

The Crown

Set into the crown is a genuine Yogo Sapphire — sourced exclusively from a single deposit in Montana's Little Belt Mountains. There is no other source on earth for true Yogo Sapphires, making this one of the most geographically specific gem inclusions you'll find on any production wristwatch.

The Box

Each Model 3 arrives in a handcrafted wooden box made from reclaimed fir salvaged from a historic 1893 Bozeman farmhouse. A certificate of authenticity and individual serial number accompany every piece.
