Double-Dome AR Sapphire Crystal to Mod Orient Bambino V1, V2, V3 Watches #Bamb-DD

This is an after-market double-dome sapphire crystal that you can use to mod your Orient Bambino version one, two or three watch. The sapphire crystal is 4.9mm thick and 36.5mm in diameter.

It has blue anti-reflective coating (on the bottom of the crystal only) which imparts a blue hue at some angles. Also, It is a double dome. Domed top, domed bottom, so it does not have a magnification effect.

Everything Went Well With The Crystal Replacement. First, Smaller Hands Were Replaced, Then The Crystal. The Watch Looks And Works Great. I Am Glad A Very Good Watch Man Did The Work As I Don't Think I Could Have Done It Thank You

    Problem with shape of crystal

Posted by Michael Tam on Jul 30th 2019

The item arrived quickly and seems to be of good quality. I've asked a trusted jeweller and watchmaker to install the crystal on my Bambino second gen, version 2. The watchmaker advised me that the shape of the crystal , which is much shallower near the edges than the original, pushes the second hand into the minute hand. He will try to make an adjustment/modification, but I think it is important to be aware that there may be a problem with this crystal with at least the gen 2, v2.

Sapphire fits on a small seconds Bambino in case anyone was wondering. Looks fantastic.

Faulty crystal or shoddy mod work?

    Posted by A. T. on Jul 2nd 2019

Bought this to upgrade my Bambino V1. I took it to a local watch repair shop that had good reviews, and the watchmaker replaced it. However, upon pickup, I found that the minute hand was blocking the second hand. The watchmaker said he had to destroy the stock mineral crystal to do the job, so the only option was the remove the second hand. The watch seems like it works now, but I’m really peeved with the outcome. I hesitate to give three stars because the fault may lie with the watchmaker. However, I have no technical expertise with watches, so perhaps the watchmaker did nothing wrong. In any case, this is just a word of caution to buyers that you may have a similar outcome. At least the watch wasn’t expensive, but that’s not really a consolation. I myself am having second thoughts about ever upgrading a watch again.
