Islander Automatic Watch with Leather Strap and an AR Dome Sapphire Crystal #ISL-54

The new Islander ISL-54 brings back the style of popular watch that is no longer available. The cosmetic differences are subtle but noticeable. The case is a very wearable 40mm in diameter and it is 13mm thick. Lug to lug (or tip to tip) measurement is 47.5mm. The crown is a signed screw-down type that enables a better water resistance rating of 100-meters.

Inside the case is an NH35, 24-jewel automatic movement with 21,600 vibrations per hour. This self-winding movement supports hand winding and hacks (seconds hand stops when you pull out the crown). Power reserve is about 41 hours fully wound. The ISL-54 was designed without a date window.

The black dial has distinctive oversize hour makers like many WWII pilot watches. It is very easy to view the time at a glance.
The hour hand, minute hand, and dial markings are all treated with C3 SuperLuminova. The seconds hand is painted orange for higher visibility and the lume dot has been made part of the pointer. You will note that the dial has excellent visibility due to the use of an anti-reflective dome sapphire crystal that also guards against scratches.

This model comes with a black leather strap with matching stitching and a signed stainless steel buckle. You can change up the look with a military-style nylon strap and any of our leather straps. The lug width is 20mm. 120mm x 75mm strap size.

    Very happy

This is going to be one of my favorite watches for a long time. I like my Save the Ocean Turtle, but it was put back in the watch box when this came in. I did swap the strap right away, and with a light brown strap this is going great with blue jeans and a flannel.

Overall a well crafted time peace.

I rally like this pilot inspired islander. I like the legibility, it feels solid, and with the upgraded 20mm solid link islander bracelet makes this watch a well crafted time piece. The cons; The 47.5mm lug to lug makes it look larger than it is on my 7.25 wrist size specially if I wear it with a nato stile strap. I find the crown a little sticky and not easy to screw down at times, but with a little Teflon grease problem was solved. At last, it kept correct time for the first two weeks running 5 seconds faster on a 12 our period. Now two months later is losing 5 to 10 seconds a day. I just hope wont get any slower than that. I still love the watch!!

First off, the new site looks great Marc! I'm the owner of several LIW watches now since 2019. And although I've got my sights on more, the 54 is my favorite! I call it the "Everymans Explorer" because of the obvious. If you're able to, purchase a set Mercedes and the stainless band and mod it yourself like I did. It looks fantastic. My son saw mine and he bought one too! They're strap zombies! I love all my ISL's and THEY have become my regular rotation. The few Seikos I have are rarely worn with the exception of my ancient 7002. The other part of this equation is the world class customer service, BAR NONE. No one, and I mean no one comes even close to the service Marc provides. Answering emails on a sunday night at 9:30 pm? Who does that?! Loyal since 2019 and beyond! I don't go anywhere else. Many many thanks LIW!

    Less is more

The design is definitely of the less is more ethos. The dial is clear and easy to read, beautifully balanced with no clutter. The orange second hand gives a flash of colour and brings the face to life. I bought this watch with the intention of it being a cheap watch for holidays and days on the beach. It is far to good for that.

Love the watch. I bought both the watch and upgrade strap. Very nice quality, especially for the price. Also very prompt delivery, Thanks Island Watch!

    My First Islander

I've been watching Marc on YouTube for a couple of years and needed to get this watch as soon as I saw it. I order one three days ago and it just showed up. It's better than pictured. I also ordered a deployant clasp and was able to swap it out myself in seconds. Marc was so quick to answer the question I had regarding the proper size deployant for the strap that came with the watch. Thank you again, Marc. This will not be my last Islander.

The legibility and aesthetics of this watch are perfect. It’s a rugged explorer inspired field watch, that can pass as a dress watch. And the lume is on par with any of my Seiko’s. But somehow manages to be more legible than the average dive watch at night.

    Top marks

I received my ISL-54 field watch today and I’m impressed! I have ordered from Mark before but this is my first Islander. I went ahead and purchased the matching Oyster bracelet which is really nice looking (with a proper milled clasp and all), but I didn’t put it on yet because the black leather strap is much more comfortable than expected. As for the watch, it arrived quickly but when I went to adjust the time I found the crown VERY stiff and difficult to turn. I used a padded tweezer to turn the first few times and loosen it, then set the time. Screwing back in was difficult so I contacted Mark. Within an hour I had an email back saying to try some wax on dental floss. Hey, I have some beard balm and floss laying around so I gave it a try. Just a few flosses around the tube threads and BAM, the crown easily screws down now. Five star watch and five star service! Thanks for providing both!
