Islander Babylon HV1000 Titanium Solar Field Watch with Blue Dial #ISL-334

The new Islander Babylon continues the tradition of the basic Islander Mitchel Field Watch, but adds a solar movement contained in a hardened blasted titanium case. The result? A lightweight grab and go field watch that is easy to read and so light you'll forget you're wearing it.  It uses the Miyota 2170 ring solar movement. This movement differs from other solar movements because the solar collector is actually attached to the inside of the case, above the dial. Because the collector is not behind the dial, we are able to use a fully opaque (metallic) dial. The movement can power the watch on a full charge for 4 months, and is accurate to 20 seconds per month.

The titanium case has been coated with a treatment that brings the surface hardness to HV1000 (1000 Vickers). This is similar to the scratch resistance of martensite stainless steel. . . about 8x the hardness of the titanium without a coating. Coupled with a flat, anti-reflective scratch resistant sapphire crystal, the Islander Babylon will look great for years to come.

The screwdown crown ensures 100 meters of water resistance. The movement is a true no-date movement, so setting it is super simple. Super-LumiNova is used on the dial and hands, so reading the time in low-light is a breeze.

Securing the watch to your wrist is a woven nylon strap that conforms easily to your wrist. The strap uses QR pins (quick release pins) so you can swap it with your favorite strap quickly. The strap is 20mm at the case, and 18mm at the hardened titanium buckle.

The Miyota 2170 movement has an "EOL", aka, end-of-life indicator, so when the charge on the battery is getting low, the watch will tick in 2 second increments. This is the watch telling you to get it some light and charge it up.
