Marathon Swiss Made Quartz Military Navigator Pilot Watch with Tritium Illumination #WW194013-NGM

The Marathon Military Navigator Pilot's Quartz is a highly accurate watch built to strict military specifications under MIL-PRF-46374G. Designed for pilots, parachutists, and law enforcement, the Military Navigator Pilot's Quartz is made to withstand the challenges that may face it in a professional or everyday environment.

First developed by Marathon Watch Company in 1986, the Military Navigator Pilot's Quartz was developed as a request by Kelley Air Force Base for a watch which could be used at high altitude, withstand extreme changes in pressure and altitude, as well as be an easy to read timepiece for a pilot. Marathon fulfilled this with the Military Navigator Pilot's Quartz. Made from a specialized fibershell case that is water resistant to 5 ATM, sweat and shock resistant, as well as lightweight. Included with the Military Navigator Pilots Quartz is a 20 millimeter width nylon strap made underMIL-S-46383B, Type III. The Military Navigator Pilot's Quartz now uses a sapphire crystal to provide an improved view of the dial and to resist scratches.

The Military Navigator Pilot's Quartz is made in La Chaux de Fonds, Switzerland to guarantee the highest level of quality and accuracy in manufacturing. Powered by a Swiss made, high torque, 3 jewel ETA F06 quartz movement, the Military Navigator Pilot's Quartz guarantees you a high degree of accuracy in timekeeping. The ETA F06 movement is accurate to -0.3/+0.5 seconds per day and also includes an End of Life (EOL) indicator that will advance the seconds hand once every 4 seconds to inform you that a battery change is needed. Replacement battery is a 371 cell. Note: this Navigator watch has an old school battery hatch on the back so you don't need a jeweler to install a new battery. Replacement battery is a 371 cell.

The Military Navigator Pilot's Quartz uses self contained Tritium gas tubes to ensure constant visibility in low light situations, a gas tube is placed on each hour marker, hand, and at the 12 hour marker in the bezel.
Tritium tubes are self illuminating gas tubes which contain an isotope of hydrogen, meaning they will not dull down in brightness like normal photoluminescent (glow in the dark) paint which requires an external light source to create a glow.

The Military Navigator Pilot's Quartz combines military durability with Swiss craftsmanship. The Military Navigator Pilot's Quartz is an accurate timepiece that will satisfy you for years. Note: This version has no government marking on the dial.

Decent Watch with a Few Issues

Posted by David Hill on Nov 15th 2020

Overall this watch is well constructed and meets it's goals. I like the design, light weight, using tritium as "markers", and the ETA quartz movement rather than automatic. Recently Marathon upgraded this watch to include sapphire for its crystal. Certainly the cost of including either one or two A/R coatings would have been minimal and it would certainly help reduce the glare. Frankly i cannot believe any military personnel would use a watch with such a huge reflection problem. All the others "military" style watches I have seen use A/R to keep reflections to a minimum, to reduce the possibilty of showing yourself to the enemy. Second, I wish Marathon would slightly reduce the rather sharp edges at the 4 points on the bottom of the watch "case". A simple curve would solve that problem and retain all the strength needed.

    Amazing watch

Posted by Glen vdM on May 1st 2020

This watch is great. Highly legible, sleek, and low-profile. Looks and feels like it can stand up to more than your average watch, without being too aggressive. It comes in a well-made branded and textured cardboard jewellery box inside of a branded cardboard sleeve. Not necessary for a mil-spec watch but still a pleasant surprise, and it added to the unboxing fun. The lug width is something to consider when buying this watch. I measure the lug width as 19.3mm with my calipers. Fitting in a 20mm one-piece strap is possible, as long as it's fairly soft material since it has to deform a bit. 18mm straps look decent, if you don't mind a little bit of the fixed bars peeking through for that extra-old-school Bond look. The registration of the seconds hand isn't perfect at all points on the dial for me. But it's way better than average for quartz, so really, no complaints. Great buying experience with Long Island, as usual.

    Marathon Navigator Pilot.

This is my second Watch purchase from Long Island Watch. Once again, great buying experience, the web site is easy to navigate and find what you are looking for. Shipping was quick and watch arrived a couple of days later as expected. The watch was packaged nicely and I am enjoying my purchase! I became aware of Long Island Watch via the YouTube Channel, if Long Island carries the product, I will buy here first.

    Very wearable

    Posted by D on Nov 11th 2019

The first Marathon or tritium lit watch I have owned. I really like the size and feel when wearing it. It is light and thin enough to be comfortable while running. The bi-directional bezel does not click, but still feels solid enough when it slips into each position. The white print is useful in dim light and the tritium takes over after that. Solid tool.

    Improvements for the better.

Prompt service from L.I.W. as usual. It's nice to see Marathon put in a battery plug for simpler battery changes. The watch is a great everyday tool watch that is so light that you forget you're wearing it. The tritium lume can't be beat for all night illumination. The Navigator slips under the cuff easily which is nice for regions where the days get shorter and the sleeves get longer. The only issues I have with the watch are that it came without a crown stop, so it arrived running shortening the battery life on my end, and the lugs are 20mm but it's a snug 20mm. 20mm nylon straps, including the Marathon strap, do have to squeeze slightly between the lugs. Also, the gap between the case and the fixed bars is narrow, so the rubber Marathon strap does take some effort to pull through.
