Skeleton Watches

Skeleton watches are made using movements that have been trimmed of extraneous metal (on on the bridge, plate, wheel train, or other parts) that is not absolutely needed for it to function. The skeleton movement can also be decorated with artistic engraving to further beautify it. The moving parts are then left visible through the front of the watch and the back of the watch. A small hole on the front of a watch is called an open-heart and it may or may not have a skeletonized movement, but it allows the wearer to view the balance wheel in action.
