Prior to the 1970’s all watches were mechanical. They waned in popularity when battery powered watches took the industry by storm, but have made a strong return in recent decades. But what exactly is a mechanical watch? They use mechanical components instead of a battery to power the watch. Some are hand wound and are powered by the wearer rotating the crown.
