Prior to the 1970’s all watches were mechanical. They waned in popularity when battery powered watches took the industry by storm, but have made a strong return in recent decades. But what exactly is a mechanical watch? They use mechanical components instead of a battery to power the watch. Some are hand wound and are powered by the wearer rotating the crown. Others are automatic and generate power simply by being worn (wrist movement). At Long Island Watch we offer a wide selection of quality and affordable mechanical watches.
