Islander Calabro GMT World Time Automatic Watch with Anthracite Dial #ISL-316

The Islander Calabro is our first GMT watch powered by the newly released Seiko NH34 automatic movement. Named after an airport in the town of Brookhaven on Long Island, the Calabro combines the ruggedness of a diver with the legibility of a pilot’s watch. A world time bezel will ensure that it is your trusty companion whether you need to make an overseas call, or overseas trip.

At 40mm in diameter, the Islander Calabro is the perfect size for a multitude of wrist sizes. In that case size, an amazing amount of information is conveyed. Of course, time is told through the three aviator style hands. A date window is comfortably located at 6:00, keeping the dial balanced. A 4th hand, the GMT hand (denoted by a triangle tip) is independently settable to a different time zone as read on the inner 24 hour scale. Lastly, a world time bezel is included so you can tell, at a glance, the time anywhere around the world. Just rotate the bezel so your local city is lined up with the current 24 hour time on the inner chapter ring. Of course, being a Long Island company, the conventional “New York” on the world time bezel has been replaced with “Long Island” in a contrasting color.

As mentioned above, the watch is powered by a Seiko NH34 movement. This automatic movement both handwinds and hacks, and provides a power reserve of about 40 hours. The movement beats at 21,600 beats per hour, resulting in a seconds hand that sweeps across the dial. The crown is screwdown to maintain 200 meters of water resistance.

The dial is aviation inspired, with large raised numbers and indices. They are each filled with lume to maintain excellent low light visibility. All four hands are lumed as well, so you will always know what time it is! Covering the dial is a flat, scratch resistant sapphire crystal with inner anti-reflective coating applied.

Securing the Calabro to your wrist is a solid “H-link” style bracelet that articulates at the lug, ensuring maximum comfort. The bracelet has solid links and solid endlinks. It is sized with screws and includes a ratcheting micro-adjust clasp so you can get the proper fit "on the fly". The bracelet tapers from 20mm at the lugs, to 18mm at the clasp.

This particular version is a textured anthracite dial with world grid overly. The hands are white that contrast for maximum legibility, and a blue aluminum world time bezel insert. Accents of orange are used on the dial, hands and bezel.
