New for 2022 and beyond, Squale has refined their epic 1545 case design and watches. Designed for those who love every aspect of water sports, the 1545 is the ideal companion for a day of intense water activity – or just hanging out if water is not your thing! With the 300 meter water resistance rating, the Squale 1545 has you covered!

Just what is the meaning of “1545”? Launched by Squale in the 1970’s, the case was originally produced for other brands when Squale was known as the expert in water resistant cases. Y1545 was the serial number of the case that would come to define a whole lineup of watches, 50 years later.

The case is a very comfortable 40mm in diameter, and is just 12mm thin. With a lug to lug of 48mm, the 1545 collection is an ideal size for many different wrists, from small up to large. Powering the watch is a Sellita SW200-1 movement. This 26 jewel Swiss automatic movement offers handwinding, hacking (seconds hand stops when you set the time) and a power reserve of about 40 hours. The screwdown crown is extra large for ease of manipulation, and a red witness ring is located at the root of the crown tube, so you can tell at a glance (before submerging) if your crown is screwed down tightly.

The watch is topped with a flat sapphire crystal, with anti-reflective (glare) treatment applied to the inner surface. The dive bezel is 120 click, uni-directional and ratcheting – topped with a ceramic insert that will resist scratching with luminous pip. The dial is treated with C3 Super-LumiNova, and hands are treated with C3 as well to provide nighttime viewing.

The white dial is contrasted by goldtone applied markers and hands. The ceramic insert is also done in white, and filled with goldtone paint. As a nod to history, the Squale dial is ‘double-logo’, acknowledging that Squale is both the case maker, and watchmaker of this piece.

Securing it to your wrist is a 20mm white rubber strap.
