In design for well over a year, the Spinnaker Spence represents an achievement that will surely amaze you. The new release from Spinnaker comes in at an amazing 10.9mm thick, or should we say "thin". Not only that, it is also water resistant to a full 300M. Wow! Let's get into the details.
The Spence is a very loved 40mm in diameter, with a modest 48mm on the lug tip to lug tip. As we already said, the watch is ONLY 10.9mm thick. A slightly domed sapphire crystal protects the dial and remains scratch free. A very solid feeling 120 click uni-directional ratcheting bezel is useful for timing, and is filled with lume. The aluminum insert is colored to match the dial.
The watch is powered by the Hi-Beat Miyota 9039 movement, which is a 28,800 BPH movement that ticks along at a smooth 8 ticks per second. The 24 jewel, handwinding and hacking movement has a 40 hour power reserve. You will notice there is no date on the Spence, and the movement used is a true no-date movement; only one setting position is available, and that's to set the time. Setting the time is a breeze with the screwdown crown.
Securing it to your wrist is a 20mm bracelet that matches the lines of the watch, and is done in full brush. A wonderful push button clasp is used, with plenty of micro-adjust. A bonus leather strap is included. And lastly, the packaging is actually useful. Instead of throwing it away, you will find utility in it as a travel case.
