Islander Hi-Beat Automatic Dress Watch with Blue Dial, AR Sapphire Crystal #ISL-38
This Islander watch has a classic and tasteful 38mm x 11mm stainless steel case design. The sides are polished and the top has a fine brushed finish. The captivating sunburst blue dial features applied silver hour markers filled with SuperLuminova. The sleek silver hands are also filled with SuperLuminova for viewing the time in the dark. An anti-reflective sapphire crystal guards against scratches and provides you with an exceptionally clear view of the time and date. The bezel on the ISL-38 is fluted for a more sophisticated look. It can capture and reflect light at different angles.
The ISL-38 is powered by a 24-jewel, Hi-Beat (28,800 bph) Miyota 9015 automatic movement that is accurate and has predictable performance. You can hand wind it and it also hacks (seconds hand stops when crown is pulled out). Power reserve is rated at about 42 hours. The movement is visible via an exhibition window caseback. Usually dress watches only come with 30 to 50 meters of water resistance - the ISL-38 is rated at 100 meters and includes a screw-down crown.
The watch comes with an elegant stainless steel bracelet with a push-button deployant clasp for easy on and off. The bracelet links are solid as are the end-links. The lug width is 20mm. Sizing is made easier with the use of a screws instead the more common pins.

For $350 you get a smooth high beat miyota movement that is extremely quiet, a sapphire crystal with a beautiful blue dial, and a shiny fluted bezel. Also, comes with a nice strapcode quality bracelet with simple to size screws! Anyone who is into dress watches or wants a cool homage to a Datejust, this is your watch. Best deal I've ever seen!
This is an extremely nice watch. I've owned a few Rolex Datejust's and this watch stacks up. No bull. A beautifully designed and built watch. It's crazy. But true.
Just received 2 days ago and it's a great watch. It's my fist jubilee bracelet and it feet perfectly with the watch. The only trouble now is that when other colors will follow i will have to buy an other islander watch like a salmon or purple one !
This is obviously Mark's take on a Rolex Datejust. It is nicely done and very comfortable. I personally would have left off the lume marker at the 3:00 position. I was expecting the blue dial to be a little darker but it is still a nice dial. The hands I would have preferred to be a little tapered like a Datejust but let's face it it's not a Datejust. The bracelet is very comfortable and it was easy to size thanks to Mark including the right size screwdriver to accomplish this. Overall I like the watch very much. I wore it for 4 days straight never taking it off as I sleep with whatever watch I am wearing and it lost 10 seconds in the 4 days. Not bad IMO. If you want a nice watch that goes good with jeans or a suit give it a try. I think you'll be impressed.
Bought based on company rep & YouTube videos. Was expecting to give 5 stars, but after a day, have found 3 items which I wish were executed different to the point where I was expecting to buy more, but now holding back. I was willing to pay even more given the design, but now not sure I would because of the relative let down... Onto the three niggles: (1) the clasp is the weakest tactile part of the watch. I wish we had spent a little more $ on the clasp and gone away from the "generic diver" clasp to a more "a la first generation Seamaster" single block clasp. for a specific example, I Just purchased a San Martin vintage Rolex homage diver and that clasp is above expectation... (2) the lume is so weak I can't discern any lume in a dark environment 20 min after hitting the watch w/ a tactical flashlight @ 3/4 brightness... (3) Weak dial for being labeled as a "starburst" dial. The blue doesn't pop nearly as much as I expected after watching more than one YouTube video
A beautiful watch at a great price. If you're tired of wearing clunky automatic dive watches, this one's for you. Even on my larger wrist, the 38mm case wears and looks great. This has everything you could want in a decent watch. All the right specs are there. I love the blue Sunray dial paired with the fluted bezel! The Miyota 9015 runs better than the ETA in my Hamilton. The lume (in a dress watch) is on par with Seiko. While this watch is thin, light and beautiful, it still has a nice weight to it on the wrist with a decent braclet. The applied logo looks really classy on this one. I've kinda grown tired of that whole dive aesthetic ever since I started collecting watches. I hope there's more watches like this down the line. I really enjoy wearing this one so far.
Always wanted a watch with a fluted bezel. Together with the stick hands and baton markers give it the look of a Rolex Oyster or Date-Just. I love that! Looks much nicer in person than in the photos. The bracelet looks great with brushed / polished links. I like that it's tapered. Also very nice is that it's fastened with screws, not push pins. I very much appreciate that the watch came with a tiny screwdriver for bracelet sizing. Should be a great daily wearer. I'm not familiar with the 9015 movement, time will tell, but it's reputed to be a good one. This movement does have the advantage of a 4 Hertz seconds hand - more refined - as opposed to the more coarse 3 Hertz movements in the standard Seiko watches. Overall, it's a beautiful watch for the price and I'm very happy with this purchase. If you're on the fence, don't be, go ahead and get this one. It's a good find! Mark really hit a home run here!
