Islander DPA Automatic Watch with Red and Yellow Dial #ISL-164
The Islander ISL-164 is done in red with yellow accents. Day and date are represented on opposite sides of the dial (another Islander first) next to applied louvered windows. The applied indices are coated with Super-LumiNova BGW9 that glows a cool blue when the lights dim. The same treatment is applied to the silver hands. Large, spelled out numbers at the 30 and 60 minute mark, as well as the arrangement of hash marks, make this a very sporty watch.
The polished and brushed stainless steel case is a very comfortable 40mm in diameter, with a thickness of 13mm. The dial is protected from the elements by a domed, anti-reflective sapphire crystal. A full 100 meters of water resistance is achieved thanks to a screw down crown. Turning the watch over, you are treated to a view of the handwinding and hacking Seiko NH36 movement, which has a 40 hour power reserve and features 24 jewels. The beatrate of 21,600 beats per hour is echoed on the dial as well.
Securing the watch to your wrist, completing the look, is a rallye style leather strap with a pin buckle. The DPA series of watches is named after an unofficial Long Island hangout for car enthusiasts.
