Seiko Orange Monster Automatic Dive Watch, Stainless Steel Bracelet #SKX781K1

The Orange Monster is one of the few dive watches to ever capture the hearts and minds of watch enthusiasts as much as the the Seiko Orange Monster. It has become the benchmark for the whole watch industry since its introduction about 11 years ago.

At the time of its introduction, it was considered a large watch. It was colorful, robust looking and very well made. It was also extremely affordable. At some point, instead of being referred to as the SKX781K1, it got the nickname Orange Monster. That name stuck and the watch began to sell like crazy all over the world.

One of the biggest assests of the Monster is its incredible luminosity. On the Monster, Seiko used two to three times the normal thickness of its LumiBrite glow-in-the-dark material to mark the hours on the dial. LumiBrite was also used on the hands to create one of the brightess and most readable watches ever made for low light conditions or for use under water. Charge this watch up with an LED flashlight for 30 seconds and it will shock you in a dark room with how much it glows. It is simply awesome.

A domed crystal was used to minimize reflections under water, and the rugged looking bezel is slighty concave to offer some protection for the crystal. Seiko offset the crown to 4:00 for inscreased comfort on the wrist and protected it with and unobtrusive crown guard.

The Seiko 7S26 automatic movement is one of Seiko's most popular and it has a long and venerable history with a reputation for ruggedness and reliability. It winds with the movement of your wrist.

Now in 2013, the original Monster is being retired and replaced with a revised version that is more expensive. Island Watch has acuired a quantity of the amazingly popular original Seiko Orange Monster on a bracelet. We encourage you own one while they are still available for purchase under $200.

I had never bought anything here before and when I saw that this is where Amazon was going to sell it from I just went right to the site and saved $35. Watch game probably within a week in new condition.

I have a 'knack' for chipping crystals that protrude anything above the watch side profile, and with this piece, worry no more! The high-viz orange face is great, allows me to see the time in the dimmest lighting. The watch band pin/collar system gave me a fit or two, so just be be warned..

I don't normally take the time to write a review on things that I purchase. However, I ordered the Seiko Orange Monster with the bracelet from Longislandwatch.com and all I can say is this watch is way better in real life then any video and picture HD or not I had seen on my research before buying this watch. I am not going to bore you with the details since there are 100's of great reviews on this watch out there, and all I will tell you is that all of them are true!! The real reason that made me decide to do this review is to give an incredible THANK YOU to Long Island Watch Company. The service was outstanding, however what impressed me was on there shipping!! I live in California, I ordered this watch on a Thursday and by Monday late morning this dog on watch was is my ups box waiting to be picked up by me! I have ordered other watches from online companies that are in the same general area as this company is and they blew me away with how fast I received my watch.

The Seiko Orange Monster (SKX781K1) is a pleasure to own. The orange dial is legendary and the lume is as bright as you will ever see. The lume on the hour markers has a very pleasing to the eye yellow green color. It looks so good against the background orange color of the dial. The case is built like a tank, and with the stainless bracelet they balance very well on my wrist. And, the bracelet does not grab and tug on my arm hairs!

I was looking for an online Seiko dealer that had 100 percent rating (eBay) and would ship internationally---I am in the Philippines. There are not too many that qualify. Although I did not purchase my Orange Monster through eBay, Marc at Island Watch satisfied those two requirements. Plus, he was there to answer my questions before and after the sale. The SKX781K1 arrived well-packaged, with correct tags, new gift box, and Seiko warranty. And, since 12-13-2013, looks great and runs well.
