Seiko Special Edition Prospex PADI Solar Dive Watch with Stainless Steel Bracelet #SNE549

This Seiko solar powered dive watch replaces the model SNE435. Note: The SNE549 is the exact same watch as the SNE435, Seiko just changed the model number. It is a special edition for Seiko's newly formed association with the Professional Association of Diving Instructors or PADI. The watch has a 44mm stainless steel case with a hardlex crystal. This new model features a Seiko Caliber V157 solar powered quartz movement with a 10 month power reserve when fully charged (with light). A date display is at 3:00, and you get highly luminous hands and markers treated with Lumibrite for awesome low light visibility.

200 meter water resistance. Screw down crown, a uni-directional blue diving bezel with luminous PIP at 12:00, Hardlex mineral crystal and a solid etched, screw-down case back. The watch comes on a stainless steel bracelet with a double locking fold-over push-button clasp with a divers extension. It includes manual and a Seiko box.

    Seiko PADI SOLAR

Posted by Leo Lantz on Jul 24th 2021

The blue on the dial and bezel is beautiful. The dial shows radiance in the sunlight. I really like the fit and feel on my 6.75in wrist.Don't be shy of it's 50 mm lug to lug as the bracelet fits in such a way that it hugs the wrist and does feel large. It wears like a 45-48 mm lug to lug watch. The red white and blue coloring is most appealing and the date 'cyclops' allows me to easily see the date at arms length. The bezel indexing lines up with the chapter ring nicely. My one mark against this watch is that the seconds hand registration is off plum. This is not a deal breaker and is probably random but is a bit disappointing on the QC front from a company as large as Seiko. I would prefer good seconds hand registration over the bezel indices aligning with the chapter ring my that is personal preference only. The bracelet is very good with brushed stainless steel on the lateral sides and polished in the middle. It has a diver's extension and the usual stamped clasp which works fine. Pins and collars hold this bracelet together and I happen to like them but I know this is a point of perspective. I definitely recommend the correct tools in order to facilitate strap adjustment but they can be purchased at LIW and are very affordable. I really like this watch.I like tge HARDLEX crystal as it stays free of finger smudges.Overall I am happy with this time piece and would recommend it.The seconds hand registration problem does not effect accuracy and I have seen it on watches costing 5X what I paid for this watch. I really enjoy it's solar movement.

I've been using this watch as my all purpose daily watch. The great looks and features for $297 cannot be beat. Accuracy is as good or better than any quartz watch I've ever owned. Right now it's a desk diver until I get back into the water. Kudos to Marc for great service and running a very good online watch site. Please continue the Watch and Learn videos.

Seiko Special Edition Prospex PADI Solar Dive

I could not be more pleased with my recent purchase of this PADI Solar Drive Watch. I paired this watch with a navy blue and red accent nylon strap which seems made for this watch. I ran into trouble trying to remove links from the included stainless-steel bracelet. The pins are almost impossible to remove. The bracelet is well made but uses the Seiko pin and collar system. Except for the supplied bracelet, I am overall well pleased with this watch and give it a high recommendation.
