Seiko "Arnie" Prospex Tuna Dive Watch with Solar Movement and 47.5mm Case #SNJ025

This incredible Prospex Divers Solar SNJ025 watch is a reissue of a cult classic originally known as the Seiko H558 watch that was first introduced in 1982. At the time, it was considered the world’s first hybrid diver watch. But, it was also famous for being the exact watch Arnold Schwarzenegger personally owned and wore in many of his 1980’s movies including Commando and The Predator. So, this new model has been nicknamed, the Seiko ‘Arnie’ watch as part of the Prospex Divers collection which follows closely the same design style as its early counterpart.

The all-black aesthetic looks striking on the wrist and fastens comfortably by a soft black matching silicon strap. The case of the SNJ025 watch measures to 47.5mm in size, a slight increase from the original, and it is crafted from polished stainless steel. The largest difference between the new Seiko SNJ025 Solar Arnie and the original is the movement. The H558 model was powered by a standard quartz calibre whereas this new Seiko Arnie watch is equipped with Seiko’s famous Solar H851 movement with a six month power reserve when fully charged (by strong light). The H851 movement equips the timepiece with chronograph function, alarm, calendar and dual time. The functions are presented beautifully beneath hardlex crystal glass by a digital display and luminous hands and indices.

Water resistance is 200 meters. 120-click bezel. Screw down crown and pushers. 22mm lug width. It’s an ISO 6425 rated diver.

    Out of the Park

Another great watch from Long Island Watches. I’ve purchased a number of watches from Marc with my favorites being the Islander line. Seiko really knocked this one out of the park, Nice size with digital/analog combination on a very comfortable silicone strap. It will be one of my go to watches. Marc’s customer service is also second to none. I’ll be back for more.

I have been looking to purchase this watch since it was first released and finally decided to buy it when I found it on sale with Island Watch. I ended up purchasing through Island watch because I know they are an authorized dealer, rather than possibly getting a grey market watch from amazon. This is definitely my favorite watch in my collection.

Excellent Customer Service / Love the new "Arnie"

First, Island is a great source for watches. My brother and Dad bought several from the site and recommended them to me. The staff is knowledgeable and responsive. Spend a few extra and get it through a creditable source for the piece of mind you're getting the real thing. I highly recommend the Seiko reissue "Arnie" diver to anyone looking for a good diver, Seiko fans or anyone who thinks Arnold is an American treasure. Some reviews claim that it is a massive watch. Nah. The case is not much bigger than other Seiko divers. The main reason it sounds big is the crown on the right side and pushers on the left, adding a few extra mm. They don't get in the way when wearing it. IMO the turtle feels like a bigger watch. Rubber strap is comfortable and flexible unlike other stiff diver bands. It has a cool metal hardware that keeps it in place so it's not dangling. If you want to feel like a action hero at the grocery store or just want a cool watch, get the Arnie.
