Formex Essence Ceramica 41mm COSC with Blue Dial #0336.4.6631.410
The Essence Ceramica COSC pushes ceramic watchmaking forward: a full zirconium-oxide ceramic case and bracelet at 41 mm, finished with crisp brushing and diamond-polished facets. The re-engineered case integrates Formex’s patented Case Suspension System—tuned for ceramic to absorb shocks and hug the wrist—and a screw-down crown executed to tight tolerances in ceramic. The bracelet debuts the world’s first micro-adjustable ceramic clasp, allowing on-the-fly sizing in 1.5 mm steps across 5 mm with the clasp closed. Quick-release ends let you swap to leather, rubber, or nylon in seconds; those straps pair with a patented carbon-fiber deployant offering up to 7 mm of gradual micro-adjustment on the wrist. Ceramic isn’t just a look: it’s about seven times harder and ~30% lighter than steel, hypoallergenic, amagnetic, thermally adaptive, and UV-proof, so color and finish don’t fade. Sapphire front and back complete a package made to look new, day after day.
As with every Essence dial, you get razor-sharp, CNC-milled horizontal lines with vertical brushing; applied, multi-faceted indices and hands with brushed tops and mirror-polished bevels; deep-filled BGW9 Super-LumiNova®; and a beveled 6-o’clock date with a tone-on-tone disk for a clean read from off-axis. To let the pattern run uninterrupted, “Swiss Made” sits on the rehaut.
Inside is the Soprod Newton P092, a bespoke automatic caliber co-designed to Formex specs. Its 6/12-o’clock architecture places the balance at 6 beneath a transverse bridge for added shock resistance, with Incabloc’s double-cone system for extra protection. Finishing is modern: laser-textured grainé bridges with vertically brushed edges in galvanic black-gold, thermally blued screws, and a skeletonized rotor with an open-worked Formex emblem and sunburst finish—visible through the sapphire back. Each movement passes Chronofiable® endurance trials (accelerated ageing, temperature/humidity cycles, 20,000 shocks) and then COSC certification to ISO 3159. Every watch includes its COSC certificate and engraved chronometer number.
MASTERING THE ENGINEERING OF CERAMIC
The Essence Ceramica COSC brings advanced ceramic expertise to the forefront with its sophisticated combination of vertical-brushed and diamond-polished finishes. Achieving such refined surface treatments in ceramic requires exceptional skill, specialized diamond tooling, and a profound understanding of the material. Thanks to its close connection with Dexel – a reference in the watchmaking industry and a leading expert in ceramic watch components, owned by the same family – Formex benefits from over 40 years of specialized expertise, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with this advanced material. Each case and bracelet component undergoes multiple finishing stages, resulting in a dynamic interplay of light that brings the ceramic to life – and gives the watch striking wrist presence.
OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED MOVEMENT
In 2023, Formex began co-developing a bespoke Soprod Newton P092 automatic caliber to our specifications: a symmetrical 6–12 o’clock architecture with the balance at 6 beneath a transverse bridge for superior shock and vibration resistance—echoing our patented Case Suspension System—plus Incabloc’s benchmark double-cone shock absorber. Designed in-house for a modern aesthetic, the movement showcases laser-textured grainé bridges with vertically brushed edges and a galvanic black-gold treatment, traditional thermally blued screws, and a skeletonized rotor with an open-worked Formex emblem and bold sunburst finish—visible through the sapphire caseback. Each caliber is independently endurance-tested to Chronofiable® standards at Laboratoire Dubois (accelerated aging, temperature and humidity cycles, and 20,000 shocks) and then certified by the COSC under ISO 3159 over 15 days in five positions and three temperatures. Only movements averaging −4/+6 s/day pass; every watch ships with its COSC certificate and an individually engraved chronometer number.
WORLD'S FIRST MICRO-ADJUSTABLE CERAMIC CLASP
Extending the same level of precision engineering beyond the case, the Essence Ceramica COSC is fitted with a full-ceramic bracelet that mirrors the case’s meticulous finishing. Its brushed surfaces and diamond-polished bevels catch the light with every wrist movement, creating a dynamic interplay of reflections. A true breakthrough lies in the integration of Formex’s purpose-designed, patented micro-adjustable ceramic clasp—a world first—seamlessly incorporated into the ceramic bracelet. Unlike traditional metal clasps, which can be easily machined or even stamped, ceramic’s hardness makes such precision engineering extraordinarily challenging. Yet, Formex has not only succeeded in crafting a ceramic clasp that seamlessly matches the bracelet but has also integrated its patented micro-adjustment system. This groundbreaking mechanism, operating over a range of 5 mm in increments of 1.5mm, allows for fine-tuning the fit on the fly to expand or shorten the bracelet in both directions – for perfect comfort, while the watch is on the wrist, with the clasp closed, and without tools.
FOUR COLORWAYS FOR CHARACTER
Four Colorwaysfor CharacterOffered in four dial variations—each defined by its own finishing treatment—the Essence Ceramica COSC preserves the collection’s hallmarks: precisely CNC-milled horizontal lines, applied indices and hands with brushed surfaces and mirror-polished edges, and deep-filled BGW9 Super-LumiNova® for clear reading after dark.
Gamaret – Inspired by the rich red of a Swiss wine grape that has been developed specifically to thrive in an alpine climate, the “Gamaret” dial uses a hand-applied gradient tocreate a tone that recalls the swirl of wine in a glass—bright at the center, darkening toward the edges. The effect is vibrant and expressive, perfectly balanced by the black ceramic setting.
Dégradé – A warm brown dial with a light sunburst finish enhanced by a hand-applied gradient, shifting from silvery tones at the center to near-black at the edge. The gradation blends seamlessly with the ceramic case, giving the watch understated sophistication and depth.
Blue – A bestseller in the Essence steel line, the blue dial reveals its vertical brushing most clearly. Depending on the light, it shifts from nearly black in shadow to a vibrant navy in sunlight—a dynamic, versatile character that reinforces the watch’s bold presence.
White – High-contrast by design: a crisp white lacquer dial set against full black ceramic for instant, at-a-glance legibility. Gunmetal hands, indices, and logo read as black in low light, then catch the light to reveal polished bevels and brushed facets that guide the eye. The pared-back layout and precise grooves keep every indication clear and precise.Together, the four dials showcase the breadth of the Essence identity—each with its own character, yet all unmistakably Formex.
