Islander Black Dial Automatic Dive Watch with AR Double Dome Sapphire Crystal, and 120-click Bezel #ISL-57

Islander Black Dial Automatic Dive Watch with AR Double Dome Sapphire Crystal, and 120-click Bezel #ISL-57

The Islander ISL-57 has the familiar look of an iconic dive watch which has been discontinued. The Islander version mimics the the original but, it has an all solid link bracelet that uses screws for sizing (instead of the very fussy pin and collar system). The upgraded bracelet also features a more robust milled deployant clasp with a dual-push button release. Another Islander upgrade is a double-dome sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective (inside only) coating that provides scratch protection and a clearer view of the dial and time.

The movement is a 24-jewel NH36 automatic that offers you the same reliable performance as later editions of this iconic dive watch. The deep black dial features white hands and hour markers coated with SuperLuminova for reading the time in the dark. The day and date window is in the familiar 3:00 position.

The lugs are drilled for bracelet to dive strap changes. Lug width is 20mm. The case size is 42mm diameter by 13mm thick. 47mm tip to tip. Finish is brushed and polished. The crown and caseback are screw-in and the uni-directional rotating (slightly concave) bezel is a 120-click with a luminous PIP. Water resistance is 200 meters.

    ISL-57

Beautiful watch! Nice job Marc! My only niggle would be that the bracelet is a bit of a hair puller. I'm replacing it with a SC SEII. This is a great value in a dive watch! Get one, you won't regret it. I plan on making further purchases with LIW. Package arrived promptly and was well packed. The ISL-57 is a great watch.

    Black Monster Homage

I am very happy with my new watch. The ordering and delivery was great. The little screw driver which came with the watch was great to receive because it is nice to he able to do sizing yourself. It runs a little fast which is better than a little slow. I love its tough look which is at the same time monsterously classy.

    Beautiful Workmanship

I own a Garmin Fenix 6x Sapphire. As a professional pilot, I love it, but.... The fact is, a Garmin is a feat of programming technology. This watch is an expression of art in the mechanical tradition. The way it controls light reflection is simply beautiful. The polished surfaces shine, while the brushed surfaces add a magnificent contrast. To keep running, it requires nothing but that you move...and that's a good thing folks. You can count on the workmanship and quality of materials. This watch will be cherished long after my Garmin has been upgraded countless times. We make life more complicated than necessary. Sometimes simple is best.

This watch takes the gen one Monster to its maximum potential with sapphire crystal, milled clasp, lined up chapter ring and bezel, and bright lume, well worth the 275

    ISL-57

Got my ISL-57 monster from Longisland Watch. Two screws of the bracelet don‘t come out, no matter what I do. The bezel is almost free floating, it is way too loose. Two parts of the bracelet are stuck, and don‘t articulate properly. The movement runs great, but all in all the watch is not very good. You can say it‘s not expensive, but I buy a watch because I like it, not because it‘s affordable. I will not buy another Islander.

excellent watch. why didn't seiko do what marc has done. would recommend the islander brand to anyone who's interested. I've watched some reviews of islander watches and they criticize the case back for not having a fancy raised logo on the case back. the reality is the case back on marc's watches are more comfortable on wrist. you hit a home run with your watch line marc

    Awesome Watch

The things that really stand out on this watch are the legibility, the lume, and the bracelet. The high contrast black and white layout and fantastic lume make it easy to read the time day and night. The bracelet is another top notch feature. It is comfortable and robust and matches the watch very well. The rugged design aesthetic makes this a great general utility watch, and the timing bezel comes in handy even if I'm not going diving. The 200 meters of water resistance also ads reassurance that I'm not going to mess up my watch in any environment where I am likely to find myself.

    Black monster

Recently received my watch and couldn't be more pleased. Always wanted a monster, but Seiko's shot up in price to levels I feel are not justified by the watch. So, in this review, I want to alleviate some concerns and address some comments I've been hearing about this Islander and Seiko's. Is the Heimdallr monster better than this watch? The short answer is...Absolutely not, and I'll tell you why. I got both this and the red Heimdallr for review . The Heimdallr came first. After wearing it a week or 2, i liked it. However, I did begin to notice problems with it. The red is beautiful, and I like the shark teeth design, but, it's just not as refined as this Islander, and you don't really feel the difference in quality, till you have both in your hand. For example, notice the top of this watch where the lugs come down to points over the bezel. On the Heimdallr, they're very sharp and pointy. So sharp in fact, that if you don't watch turning the bezel, you could possibly cut your fingers, same for the crown guards. This Islander's edges are crisp, yet smooth and machined, not pointy. The bezel action on the Heimdallr is very gritty and tough to move. The crown a bit too. The Islander is the same 120 click, but again, smooth and feel easy to move, with no back play. The lume on both seem equal, as are the time keeping/movements. The dial's are different and liking, of course, is subjective. I like both, but the Islanders 12'o clock tooth and indices really appeal to me more than I thought they would,. it really is a gorgeous and legible dial. I love the stainless steel bezel on both, but give a slight edge in quality to the Islander. The biggest difference for me, is the bracelets. The Heimdallr, while finished nicely and probably a bit more faithful to the original, is absolutely the worst pin system I have ever seen. I don't know what these pins were they use, but they have no arrow telling u on the bracelet which way to go, and either way seems impossibly hard to get them out. They go form large to small and I didn't like them at all. I honestly gave up and put it on a strap. The Islander, is odd. If I'm understanding it correctly, it has half screws and the rest of the links are pins, that are not meant to be removed? You do your sizing with the 3-4 links below and a couple micro adjustments. That threw me at first, but once I figured it out, it was a breeze to size and fits great. The end links, while not your typical fit, look great and were the easiest end links I've ever installed, and love the drilled lugs, both have them. Also, the bracelet is very well done. Milled clasp and I prefer the more muted brushing, as opposed to the Heimdallr mirror polished center links. You can just feel and see the quality in the Islander. Yes, the Heimdallr is a decent, nice looking watch, and a bit cheaper. But, you sometimes, you get what you pay for and for me, there is no contest. for around a 100 dollars more, you're getting 10x's the quality and supporting semi small business in America. I would say, if financially, it's an option for you, take one of these Islanders over the Heimdallr any day. You won't regret it. Nice job again Mark, keep it up.
