Orient Monarch Hand Winding Watch with White Dial and Power Reserve Indicator #DD03003Y

Orient Monarch Hand Winding Watch with White Dial and Power Reserve Indicator #DD03003Y

The new Orient Monarch watch features an Orient Caliber 48C40 manual, hand winding movement with a 40-hour power reserve indicator on the dial. It has a white dial with black Arabic numerals as hour markers and hash marks on the outer seconds track. The blue hour, minute and seconds hands contrast beautifully with the white dial. The case size is 40mm x 13mm. You wind the watch with the crown to reach the 40 hour power reserve on the dial indicator. It will run for nearly two days before it needs to be wound. An exhibition window case back allows you to view the hand winding movement.

Note:
The Orient Caliber 48C40 mechanical movement is hackable.

    uncommon value

The Orient Monarch is indeed a nice time piece. The aesthetic is pleasing to me. The Arabic numeral font is reminiscent of a 1920s pocket watch - a style some people find attractive and one that is missing from many collections. The accuracy of the movement appears to be spot on. The case execution and finishing are way above average for the price point. The dial has a bit of a sunburst gleam, which surprised me. A detail that lends itself modestly but a nice enhancement nonetheless. I am not crazy about the shade of blue paint on the hands. It is not a reasonable shade approaching that of blued steel - a bit too vibrant. Still, this is a matter of personal preference. My suggestion would be to buy the Monarch if you find the aesthetics are appealing. You will not find similar quality in this design motif without spending far more money. There will be an additional Orient watch or two in my future based on my experience with Orient and Island Watch.

A bargain in style and function!

I have had the watch for a few days now, and am very happy with it. seems to be holding time fairly well, but still just breaking in so I think it will get even better over time. I have shown the watch to a few gals, and the like the styling, so that's a plus. Feels pretty solid with some weight to it, I live in the desert so I probably won't be wearing it too much longer into the summer to reserve the leather strap, I have a Tissot automatic and a Seiko 5 diver both with metal bracelets for the summer. sweat doesn't affect those. the blue hands really stand out at certain angles, and the power reserve indicator is great, it's nice to be able to see how much energy is stored up. the dial is pretty cool, I don't know what color or hue to call it but it is a nice tone, and the lettering is legible and still kinda retro at the same time. it reminds me of a Breguet I once saw but about a hundred times less expensive!

    Incredible Value

This is my first Orient and I have to say, I'm EXTREMELY impressed. The build quality is outstanding and it is extremely accurate, +2 seconds a day for me. This is my new go-to dress watch. I do have two minor complaints that I'd love to see Orient address: 1. At 13mm, this watch is on the thicker side for a dress watch. If they could knock 2-3mm off the height of the watch it would improve the fit. 2. With a case size of 40mm, Orient should really have used a 20mm strap, not 18mm.

    Magnificent Time Piece

After reading the review from WornAndWound I waited patiently for this watch to come to Canada. I then turned my eyes to Long Island Watch and purchased it as soon as it became available. Firstly, the watch came safely, quickly and the packaging was done right. The watch is fantastic and a great conversation piece. It's a perfect size and very legible. The Orient strap is alright for the price and will do just fine until it's time for a change. An excellent value if you ask me and I will enjoy it for years to come. Do your self a favour and pick one up.

    Nice Handwinder

This is a beautiful watch with nice attention to detail. Keeps better time than most of my Swiss ETA's...on par with the Unitas. Nothing wrong with the strap, just very plain. It wears somewhat small and is slightly feminine looking but hey we all have soft side. The dial is almost pearlescent and the hands are much closer to purple than blue. It is unique and for me, that makes it a keeper! Second purchase from Island Watch...Top Notch.
