Orient Star Retrograde Day Watch with Date, Power Reserve, Sapphire Crystal #DE00002B

The Orient Star Retrograde watch is powered by an Orient made 40A50, 22-jewel automatic (self-winding) movement that can be hand wound and has hacking capability. It has a sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating and a power reserve of 40 hours which can be monitored via a meter at 12:00 on the dial. It has a retrograde mechanism (day of the week hand). The word "retrograde" literally means a return to the starting point. The unique mechanism makes the hand return to the starting point in an instant, from the Sunday to Monday position, when a week has elapsed. The date is shown in a sub-dial at 9:00.

The beautifully decorated Orient Star movement and rotor can be seen in action via an exhibition window case back. The hour and minute hands have been cut in peak shape and feature different finishes on the two sides : matte and mirror finish. The hands and hour dots are treated with a luminous material for telling time in the dark. The watch comes with a high grade Orient Star stainless steel bracelet with a dual push-button deployant clasp. It is a beautiful timepiece with a gorgeous textured black dial.

Yep it is that good. Quality throughout. Dial work is amazing for the price point. Half matted half polished hands make the time jump out at you. Decorations and finishing on the rotor and plates is very nice. I got two examples. Both keep excellent time within a few seconds in 24 hours fast. One I bought here, the other from another place. Long island is the best..came super fast, all hang tags, perfect condition boxing, all protective stickers in place. The other place I got another version retrograde came missing stuff. Always buy here if you want to make sure its brand new and in perfect condition.

This watch arrived in good condition from an authorized dealer but the shipping time was a little slow (7+days) from what I'm accustomed to. However, shipping was free, the watch was insured, it came by USPS, and the price was great so I'm satisfied. The watch is beautiful and even when not worn but hand wound it is accurate to a couple of seconds every 48 to 72 hours. This is the second time I've used Island Watch and I feel very comfortable working with them and my customer experience with them has been great!

I had just bought a Mako XL from Island Watch when Marc tempted me with an email for this one. I had no intention of buying but couldn't resist. The watch is very sharp... excellent finishing, beautiful dial and very nice hands. I don't care much for an exhibition back, but it does add an elegant touch.Overall the watch spells quality everywhere. The price was better than anyone out there. Note that this watch is available in slightly differing styles... some models have two letter days of the week, slightly darker hands and a different band. I like this one -- the band looks expensive. Highly recommend as a watch to wear to work.
