Phoibos takes inspiration from China’s greatest monument to create the iconic timepiece collection named Great Wall. After its discontinuation for a long time, for 2023, Phoibos returns it with the “Great Wall II” in a more simple, no-frills and straightforward style. Aside from a visual and thematic nod to the Great Wall of China, the new Great Wall (ref.PY045) exerts a singular appeal by minimalist aesthetic and a pop of color scheme. It's refreshing to see the classic design reinterpreted by a more fashionable and sporty style.

Delivered on a 316L stainless steel case of 42 millimeters with a brushed finish (no change compared to the previous generation), the Great Wall II has thinner case thickness at 12MM than before due to the thinner bezel. This new bezel made of stainless steel is crisp and clear to make the watch stand out in a distinctive silhouette. The studded and polished relief dots that rise from its circularly brushed insert are punctuated by a luminous-filled dot at 12 o’clock. Its unique bezel tooth ingeniously calls to mind the continuous battlement wall of this imposing architectural feat in human history.

At its center, protected by an anti-reflective sapphire crystal, the dial finished by delicate circular brush is striking against shield-shaped indices and sword-like hands all in white makes for an extremely legible watch. All the markings and hands remain nearly identical to those of its elder brother and are treated with 15 layers Grade A Super-LumiNova BGW9 for optimum night-time visibility. Coming with four dial colors that are named mint green, sky blue, and jet black and bright orange, the new models are available with the option of either a genuine leather strap in corresponding color or an exclusively customized black rubber strap.

Beating inside the robust case, the caliber Miyota 9015 holds a strong power reserve and keeps extreme precision for the watch. Water resistance to 300M ensures functionality for underwater adventures. Not to be overlooked is the fact that this collection is limited to a total of 800 pieces, 200 of each color, and each watch comes with a serial number engraved on the screw-down caseback. As durable and robust as the Great Wall engraved on the case back, this model is designed to stay reliable and tough under any circumstances.
