Seiko Prospex Monster "Save The Ocean Antarctica” Penguin Dial Dive Watch #SRPH75

The Seiko Prospex SRPH57 is a Save the Ocean model. Seiko donates a portion of the sales to the Fabian Cousteau centre. This particular watch has a crisp textured green dial featuring swimming penguins embossed on the left side of the dial. The movement is a reliable 24-jewel Seiko caliber 4R36 automatic that can be hand wound and hacked. The powerful Seiko LumiBrite luminescent material is still used and it retains the same brilliant glowing properties that made the Monster such a huge worldwide phenomenon. A nice touch on this new model is that the case back indicates that it is a special edition.

Lug width is 20mm. Case size is 42mm in diameter x 13mm thick and 48mm tip to tip. It has a slightly domed Hardlex mineral crystal and a concave (120-click) dive bezel to help protect the crystal. The supple Monster bracelet uses a pin and collar system to size the solid link bracelet. Fine adjustments can be made on the push-button deployant clasp. Water resistant to 200 meters. Day and date window. Screw-down crown and caseback. Weight is 187 grams.

Hasn't left my wrist since it arrived

“Watch arrived ahead of schedule, in perfect shape. Heard it was a crapshoot as to whether a Seiko would have alignment issues- mine is perfect. Dial/Chapter Ring/Bezel: all perfectly aligned. Dial is BEAUTIFUL. Bracelet is a little sqeaky/jingly, but it's super comfortable, and probably nothing a dab of silicone grease wouldn't resolve. Hasn't left my wrist since I sized the bracelet (watch a video on how to do it to save yourself some headache).”

“Good ”

“Good looking watch, I purchased it because the bezel on my Wenger sak divers watch is no longer functional. It nice to have an operational bezel for timing things again but this new watch loses 7 1/2 seconds a day where the Swiss watch gains about 5 seconds between the seasonal DST time changes”

“That look... that Monster look, it just can't be beat. And this watch has it in abundance. I would love to give the SRPH75 five stars, every Monster deserves that in my opinion, but I just can't for two reasons:
1. You can barely see / make out the penguins - maybe my ancient eyes... but either way I'm a little disappointed in that (just a little).
2. Yeah, I'm gonna do it... and yes, I know... I knew going in... the bracelet. Don't get me wrong, it looks great and feels great and works great... once you get it sized. But that's the problem... the pin and collar system alone takes a star off of this watch.
Now don't get me wrong, you can size the bracelet yourself (it's just very frustrating) and once you do I think you will be very happy with your new Monster. Even if you can't really see the penguins.”
