Seiko 43mm Sports 5 Automatic 24-Jewel Watch with Silver Dial and Blue Accents #SRP481K1

This is a new generation of the Seiko automatic Sports 5 dive watch (a.k.a. the new ICE Monster) that features a Seiko 24 jewel automatic (self-winding and hand wind) movement. The silver-white dial has blue accents, a day and date display, highly luminous hands and markers treated with Lumibrite for low light visibility, crown at 3:00, uni-directional diving bezel, Hardlex mineral crystal and an exhibition window screw-down case back. Comes on a stainless steel bracelet with push-button deployant clasp and it includes manual and Seiko box.

Since I have been retired for the last 18 years and could care less what day it is, what time it is or what date it is I needed a solid all around watch that I could read without my glasses, would stand up to surfing, free diving, off shore and surf fishing. Plus I did not want to mess with a battery, This watch fit's 100% of all my needs. At this price point If something bad should happen to it I will not need to sell one of my Great grand children into bondage to buy another!

Solid Watch for the Price

This is a really great watch for the price. Itâ€™s got the big bold design of the true Monsters, but at the fraction of the price. And even though itâ€™s not a true diver, 100m water resistance is more than most people will ever need. Even though I love this piece I have two major complaints. One problem is that this model has really bad alignment issues for the hour markers lining up with the chapter ring. Fortunately I was able to reach out to Marc, and sent me one that had much better alignment than the one I ordered off of Amazon. My other issue is that Seiko didnâ€™t add a luminous pip on the bezel. I know itâ€™s not supposed to be a true dive watch, but it would have been nice to have for nighttime timing functions.

I have been reluctant to purchase this watch because of being a bit of a (Seiko Monster snob). It wasnâ€™t a real Monster... it wasnâ€™t a 200m ISO rated diver... I told myself. Well, I was absolutely an idiot...!!! This watch is awesome! I really, really like this Baby Ice Monster, itâ€™s been on my wrist since I sized it the day after it arrived...
