Squale x Drass Periscope Swiss Made Watch with IP Stainless Steel Case #VONDSSPER

The story of Drass runs parallel with mankind’s passion for exploration of our oceans. Established in 1927 in Livorno, Italy, and headquartered in what has become one of the largest seaports in the world, Drass’s unique history and extensive achievements have kept them at the forefront of manufacturing subaqueous technology. Drass has produced some of the earliest submarines, diving suits and other technology that revolutionized deep-sea exploration.

When the time came for Drass to offer a timepiece suitable for submarine operators, they turned to no other than Squale – a company they have relied on in the past. The original Periscope model was made specifically for Drass, and does not bear any Squale logo. To celebrate this timepiece, Squale has produced the Periscope model, bearing both the Squale name and Drass name on the dial. It’s virtually the same watch, but now available to the public.

You will first notice the IP black stainless steel case contrasted by the blue highlights on the dial and bezel. The watch is powered by an elabore grade Sellita SW200-1 movement, which handwinds and hacks. As with prior Drass models, the bezel is marked with a single triangle, used to pass the hours underwater, instead of the minutes. The black theme continues to the crown, bezel and sailcloth strap as well.

To protect the bezel when not in use, three multi-colored rings are included as bezel covers; orange, black and blue. The original intend of these was to prevent the wearer from banging the bezel in the tight confines of the submarine.

To see the time in the dim light of a submarine, Super-LumiNova BGW9 is used. This paint not only looks great in blue in bright light, but when the lights go down, it will glow a soothing cool blue. A sapphire crystal is used to ensure the watch will look like new for years to come. To complete the presentation, it is presented in an IP67 certified protective box, complete with bonus rubber Tropic strap.
