The Islander Journey BDL77 40mm Watch #ISL-273
Limited edition watch of 77 pieces, and each is individually numbered. This is the 40mm version. The dial is a sunburst silver pattern, with applied numbers and markers, filled with C3 Super-LumiNova that glows green in low-light conditions. The hands are polished silver, with the same C3 Super-LumiNova filled around the hand perimeter. The seconds hand is in dark green. The Brian LaVoilette Scholarship Foundation logo is printed in black on the lower portion of the dial.
The watches are water resistant to 100 meters thanks to a screwdown crown system. Powering the watches is a Seiko NH35 movement that handwinds and hacks. It has approximately 40 hours of power reserve, and uses 24 synthetic rubies to minimize friction. The movement is visible through the exhibition caseback. Etched on the caseback is the limited version number, XX/77.
Securing the watch to your wrist is a stainless steel, solid link, solid endlink bracelet that is sized with screws. The bracelet is 20mm and tapers 16mm at the deployant, 3 position micro adjust clasp.
Both watches feature a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. The 40mm version uses a domed sapphire with inner anti-reflective coating.
100% of the proceeds generated from the sale of this watch will be donated to The Brian LaViolette Scholarship Foundation.
Included with the watch is a book penned by Brian's family, The Journey is the Reward, as well as The Brian LaViolette Foundation Deck of Cards.
About the book:
In 1992, tragedy struck the LaViolette family with the loss of their beloved son and brother in a drowning accident off Door County's Chambers Island. A decade later, along with co-author Karolyn A. Gazella, they put the finishing touches on a book titled *The Journey is the Reward,* a powerful reflection of their story—one of courage, hope, and inspiration. This unique narrative offers a glimpse into the family's journey long after the headlines faded.
Over the years, the LaViolettes embarked on a difficult healing process, slowly capturing their thoughts and emotions on paper. The result was a book that not only chronicles their experience but also challenges common beliefs about grief and coping with loss.
*The Journey is the Reward* encourages readers to cherish every moment of life, offering insights that can help others navigate their own journeys through adversity.
One of the many milestones the Brian LaViolette Foundation reached was when they established their 50th scholarship. Actually 52nd.
To commemorate that achievement, they specially designed a deck of playing cards with each card representing a specific scholarship. These scholarships (and cards) honor the individual or organization that has made a positive difference in the lives of others.
About The Brian LaViolette Scholarship Foundation:
“The Brian LaViolette Foundation was created to honor the memory of Brian LaViolette, a 15-year-old from Green Bay, Wisconsin, who tragically lost his life in a swimming accident in 1992.
Brian was a bright young man with a deep love for life, family, and learning.
One of his greatest passions was watches—he believed that every second counted, and he cherished the watches he wore every day.
Inspired by Brian's spirit, the family established the foundation to keep his legacy alive. Since then, the foundation has awarded over 1,160 scholarships to college-bound students, helping them pursue their educational dreams and continue the journey Brian was unable to complete.
Through these scholarships, Brian's love, passion, and belief in the value of time continue to inspire and impact lives worldwide.
