Islander Blue Automatic Dive Watch with AR Double-Dome Sapphire Crystal, and Luminous Ceramic Bezel Insert #ISL-55

This new Islander dive watch has a familiar angular case with a screw-down crown at 3:00. The diameter is 42mm with a thickness of 14mm. Tip to tip it is a very wearable 48mm (just 2mm more than the Islander ISL-01 and ISL-02). Note that the lug ends are drilled for easier bracelet to strap changes. The case back has a rendering of Long Island on it along with the Islander name, Island Watch and 200 meter water resistance.

Inside the ISL-55 case is an NH36, 24-jewel automatic movement with 21,600 vibrations per hour. This self-winding movement supports hand winding and hacks (seconds hand stops when you pull out the crown). Power reserve is about 41 hours fully wound. The NH36 also has both a day and date wheel viewed at 3:00 on the dial.

The radiant sunburst blue dial has SuperLuminova on the hands and hour makers and the Island Watch logo is luminous. The 120-click uni-directional sub-style bezel has a scratch-resistant blue (diver marked) ceramic insert that is also treated with SuperLuminova for a maximum glow-in-the-dark experience when the lights go out.

The dial has enhanced visibility due to the use of an anti-reflective double-dome sapphire crystal that also guards against scratches. It is a captivating crystal the really gives this watch a unique and distinctive look on your wrist.

And, you get a beefy bracelet with solid links, solid end links and a robust milled scissor push-button flip-lock deployant clasp with three position micro-adjustment. For sizing the bracelet, screws are used for removing bracelet links instead of pins.

NOTE: This Islander dive is compatible with aftermarket parts available at Island Watch (and elsewhere) for the SKX007 models, such as crystals, bezels, inserts, chapter rings, dials, and hands. However SKX bracelets will not fit, but Samurai bracelets will fit.

This is a great divers watch and the fact you can use most SKX parts is incredible. I’ve already modded it with the “big tooth” bezel, white hands and a crafter blue rubber strap. Then I poised the balance wheel which brings this NH36 close to COSC specs!!!! A high quality divers watch without the hefty price tag!!!

This watch has caught my attention a while ago and now I’ve finally pulled the trigger. In addition, I’ve modded this watch with white hands, a big tooth bezel and the ratcheting clasp. Perfect size fits comfortably on my 7-3/4” wrist and I love the fact that it is smaller than the Samurai and it is compatible with most SKX modding parts!

Got mine today, it was the longest 2 days of my life. Thanks Pros: Lume Case size is perfect for my wrist Facetted sapphire crystal really pops Facets of the strap really accentuates the case Sunburst blue face Doesn't feel heavy to me Cons Only real gripe is the bracelet must run small That damn protective plastic wrap I wonder what a splash of red would look like, you know something like... Red 200m on the dial and maybe the tip of the second hand? Thanks again for putting these very affordable watches out!

I’ve had my eye on these for a while and finally pulled the trigger. It’s fantastic. Great specs all the way around, and it’s such a great looking watch, I can’t take my eyes off of it. Marc really hit a home run with this. The only question now is, which one do I get next?

All the right mods at just the right price

Honestly, if you have tried modding your own watches, you will wonder how Marc puts these together at such an attractive price point. Sapphire and ceramic for superior scratch resistance. Top notch case finish for that extra bit of class. Solid bracelet links for a sense of reassuring heft, with screw-in link pins, no less. Look, you either like the SKX diver style or you don't. But if you do, this watchto put all the mods I could think of in one place and at a reasonable cost. Are there SKX homage watches out there for less? Yeah, but when you start poking under the hood you find that the bezels differ by a couple of thousandths from the SKX standard, or that the crystals aren't double domed and AR coated, or that the vendor cheaped out on the bracelet. Not with these. Marc's only problem? These things feel like they will NEVER wear out. . . how you going to go for "replacement sales" on a product that feels this well made?
