Islander Aviator Automatic Watch with Leather Strap and an Anti-Reflective Sapphire Crystal #ISL-47

The Islander ISL-47 is an Aviator-Pilot style watch with a Type-A dial. The case is a very wearable 42mm in diameter and it is just 12mm thick. Lug to lug (or tip to tip) measurement is 48mm. The screw-in case back has the silhouette of an F-14 fighter jet etched into it. The iconic F-14 was manufactured by the Grumman company on Long Island and it was featured in the movie Top Gun.

Inside the case is a Seiko NH38, 24-jewel automatic movement with 21,600 vibrations per hour. This self-winding movement supports hand winding and hacks (seconds hand stops when you pull out the crown). Power reserve is about 41 hours fully wound. The NH38 also has no date position on the crown.

The dial has been treated with BGW9 Super-LumiNova for a cool blue glow-in-the-dark experience. The sword-style hands and hour makers are black, filled with black colored Super-LumiNova that glows green. The dial is unbranded like many of the vintage WWII offerings. The Islander ISL-47 features a Type-A dial with a clearly marked 60-minute scale and Arabic numerals except at 12:00 where a triangle with dots is used. You will note that the dial has excellent visibility due to the use of an anti-reflective sapphire crystal that also guards against scratches.

This model comes with a black leather strap with matching stitching. The buckle is signed (i.e. Islander logo). You can change up the look with a military-style nylon strap and any of our leather straps. The lug width is 22mm.

The ISL-47 aviator watch features a screw down crown which provides a water resistance rating of 100 meters.

The lume is completely amazing. I charged it up at night, and at 6AM I could still see the time - still glowing. The band is very sturdy leather- I'm certain it will last a very long time. Nice and smooth operation and good accuracy.

One of the most legible watches I own and quite accurate for a mechanical watch! And who expects a sapphire crystal at this price point! I love this watch; it has great lume as well.

This is an amazing value for a pilot watch with specs (and performance) that exceeded my expectiations. 1. The NH35 clocked +27sec within 7 days. 2. C3 Full dial lume is strong. I appreciate the debranded face as well. 3. Good sized screw-down crown with good threading. 4. clear flat sapphire 5. Nice thick leather strap, nice touch of the islander logo laser engraved on the buckle. I'd easily recommend and maybe a 38-40mm with 18-20mm lugs would be nice as well. I have been browsing Island watches for over 10+ years and seen the site grow. Love what they are doing with Islander line.

Outstanding Readability and Visibility

I have poor eyesight and needed a well built watch that above all was readable and visible in all lighting conditions even at night. This watch with white dial and black hands and numbers is outstanding. The full lumed dial is fantastic for reading time even in total darkness. Just an outstanding job and as always fast shipping and excellent service.

Very nice watch. Face is extremely readable. Hand length is perfect. Watch feels solid and well built. It's refreshing to wear a watch that was manufactured by a watch enthusiast
