Islander DPA Mecha-Quartz Chronograph with Green Dial #ISL-221

The excitement and rush of the DPA series of watches continues, this time with our first mecha-quartz movement. Introducing the Islander DPA chronograph. Powered by the Seiko VK64 movement, this mecha-quartz design combines the accuracy of a quartz movement, coupled with a mechanical module to operate the chronograph. The result is a center seconds chronograph that ticks like an automatic, multiple times per second. Elapsed minutes are on the left. With the DPA Chrono, you can time up to 60 minutes, convenient for timing your dinner, or your laundry! On the right is a 24 hour subdial that is linked to the main time. Using the chronograph is simple! Just press the top button, and the center seconds chronograph starts running. Press it again and it stops. Then, press the bottom button to reset it. Note a VK64 watch does not have a running seconds hand.

Checking out the dial, it retains many of the exciting aspects as the automatic DPA series, such as the large '30' and '60' arabic numerals and sporty ramp features for the applied indices. To aid in low light visibility, the hands and markers are treated with Super-lumiNova BGW9 lume, that glows a cool blue in darkness. The dial is protected with a domed, scratch resistant sapphire crystal, with inner AR coating. There is no date window on this model to keep the dial clean.

The case diameter is 40mm, the same as our original DPA and Sports watches. Just 12.5mm thick to the dome of the crystal means it can slip under your sleeve, and the lug to lug is a very cozy 47mm. Flipping the case over, you are treated to a beautiful etching of a drag-strip "Christmas Tree" light on the screwdown caseback. A screwdown crown is used to ensure 100 meters of water resistance (do not use the chronograph buttons under water!) Strapping it to your wrist is a rallye inspired leather strap. If you wish, we also have an upgraded stainless steel bracelet for the watch.
