Islander Brookville Hi-Beat Automatic Dress Watch with Robin's Egg Blue Dial, AR Sapphire Crystal #ISL-85

This Islander watch has a classic and tasteful 38mm x 11mm stainless steel case design. The sides are polished and the top has a fine brushed finish. The striking robin's egg blue color dial features applied silver hour markers filled with SuperLuminova. The sleek silver hands are also filled with SuperLuminova for viewing the time in the dark. An anti-reflective sapphire crystal guards against scratches and provides you with an exceptionally clear view of the time and date.

The ISL-85 is powered by a 24-jewel, Hi-Beat (28,800 bph) Miyota 9015 automatic movement with that is accurate and has predictable performance. You can hand wind it and it also hacks (seconds hand stops when crown is pulled out). Power reserve is rated at about 42 hours. The movement is visible via an exhibition window caseback. Usually dress watches only come with 30 to 50 meters of water resistance - the ISL-85 is rated at 100 meters and includes a screw-down crown.

The watch comes with an elegant stainless steel bracelet with a push-button deployant clasp for easy on and off. The bracelet links are solid as are the end-links. The lug width is 20mm. Sizing is made easier with the use of a screws instead the more common pins.

“This is a feature-rich, striking watch with specs that hit the bulls-eye and top most offerings in the price range. If you've come this far, you've read the list of upgrades that tick the boxes. I prefer watches <40mm on my 6.75 in. wrist, and this one wears like my SARB033. I think the fit and finish are nicely done, similar also to the SARB. I enjoy the simplicity and balance of watches with no-date dials, so that's another plus for me. The Hi-beat Miyota is giving me about +/- 5 sec/day and is a joy to watch smoothly sweeping. This current rendition of the watch features a blue-colored rotor with the Islander name and logo. The dial is certainly eye-catching: playful, and a bit whimsical, without being childish. It is vivid in bright light, more subdued in lower light, as you'd expect. I think it's quite handsome, although some might find it a bit showy for their taste. The only drawback I see with it is that it looks a bit incongruous with winter tweeds and woolies, so it will be a spring and summer watch for me, and another reason I'm looking forward to spring. Customer service is top tier and my experience was great.”

“I waited on my purchase of this one since I wasn’t too sure I’d wear this color often enough. I also have the salmon Brookville model. I’m glad I waited! I like this new design better with Islander written under the logo; I think it gives the dial a classier, more balanced look. I’m pleasantly surprised with how much I do like the color after all. I just don’t see it as a daily wearer; for me anyway. Great value, great specs, wears nicely on wrist and compliments the other watches I have in my collection.”
