Spinnaker x Islander Dumas Limited Edition Two-Tone Watch with Deep Blue Dial #SP-5081-LIW22

This Spinnaker Dumas diver takes its name from famed diving pioneer Frédéric Dumas. With a muscular and bold silhouette, the Dumas watch has an industrial-like form that captured the imagination of watch designers in the 1970s for both practical as well for aesthetic reasons.

Island Watch has teamed up with Spinnaker to produce four Limited Edition Dumas models, each individually numbered and offered exclusively at Island Watch. Only 50 pieces of each colorway have been produced, and will not restock once sold out, for a total series of 200 pieces across all colors. Each model is numbered with the individual series number.

They all share similar design features – a classic 44mm octagonally shaped case that is 15mm thick, and topped off with a scratch resistant sapphire crystal. The case polishing is a combination of brushed and polished, and measures just 47.5mm lug tip to lug tip. The solid link, solid endlink bracelet (22mm) attaches “under” the case, and pivots down fully, making the watch wear quite comfortably on a variety of wrists. The clasp is a 3 position micro-adjust with diver’s extension, and a bonus rubber strap is also included (with tools) so you can change up the look.

Focusing on the hands, legibility is the name of the game. A large, oversized minutes hand helps keep track of elapsed time under water, and the hour hand takes on a smaller role, as hours are not as important for a diver. To help time dives, a 120 click unidirectional ratcheting bezel is capped off with a sapphire insert that glows when the lights go down. The Spinnaker logo is marked on the crown and covered with a tasteful transparent material, giving the appearance of a cabochon. The crown is screwdown, helping to maintain the 300 meters of water resistance.

This version comes in a two-tone rosegold case. The links are individually plated, an extra detailed step in production, to ensure the plating is seen even when the watch is off your wrist (as rare as that might be!). The dial is a dark blue color, with rosegold-tone hands and markers. The bezel and crown are done in matching rosegold-tone as well. The markers and indices are finished in BGW9 lume that glows a cool blue when the lights go down, and dark blue sapphire bezel insert gets the same lume treatment. Red accents on the dial writing and markers complete the look.
