Timex 40mm Marlin 21-Jewel Automatic Watch with Stainless Steel Case and Dark Blue Dial #TW2U38400ZV

Timex 40mm Marlin 21-Jewel Automatic Watch with Stainless Steel Case and Dark Blue Dial #TW2U38400ZV

The iconic 1960s Timex Marlin® is now available with an self-winding automatic movement. Ticking inside is a tried and true 21 jewel automatic movement, creating a contemporary timepiece that honors Timex’s watchmaking history. True to Timex’s original Marlin® design, the stainless-steel case and dark blue dial are complemented with a period correct domed acrylic crystal and a brown leather strap (now with quick-change pins).

21 JEWEL MIYOTA 8205 MOVEMENT

The exhibition case back puts the Marlin’s movement on full display. Functional and beautiful, 21 jewels are used at the friction points to make the movement last longer, keep the mechanics better aligned and increase the accuracy of the watch.

MID-CENTURY DESIGN

The Marlin collection is not a re-imagining of a classic 1960s watch, but a careful recreation. From the sleek dial to the leather strap, Timex stayed true to the mid-century design of the original Marlin — a watch known for its ability to take a licking and keep on ticking.

DOMED ACRYLIC CRYSTAL LENS
True to the original 1960s Marlin design, Timex brought back the traditional domed acrylic crystal of the original Marlin watch.

    Retro Goodness Grandpa Watch

Posted by Jason Rowland on Dec 25th 2020

The dark navy dial can look black or blue. Mostly blue. The leather band is a wonderful orange/tan with quick release and it is very high quality. Everything is stainless from the bezel, to the crown, to the markers, unlike on a previous model with gold. Some may worry about the 13mm thickness. The rounded dome helps it slide under a shirt cuff. The thin case itself draws the eye, not the high domed crystal, so it appears and wears much thinner. This crystal will scratch. A little Polywatch and it's brand new. Noise from the movement? A little. These movements are reliable but known to spin. It doesn't bother me and I don't really hear it unless I am trying to make it spin on purpose. This one is a strap monster. I currently have it on an vintage, Italian leather in grey. Great price and outstanding service from LIW.
