Islander 39mm Automatic Pilot watch with Maroon Dial and Sapphire Crystal #ISL-109

The new Islander ISL-109 is a 39mm Pilot style watch with a Type-B dial. The case is a very wearable 39mm in diameter and it is just 12mm thick. Lug to lug (or tip to tip) measurement is 46mm. The screw-in case back has the silhouette of an F-14 fighter jet etched into it. The iconic F-14 was manufactured by the Grumman company on Long Island and it was featured in the movie Top Gun.

Inside the case is an NH35, 24-jewel automatic movement with 21,600 vibrations per hour. This self-winding movement supports hand winding and hacks (seconds hand stops when you pull out the crown). Power reserve is about 41 hours fully wound. 

The Maroon dial has Super-LumiNova on the sword-style hands and hour makers. The dial is unbranded like many of the vintage WWII offerings. The Islander ISL-109 features a Type-B dial with a clearly marked 60-minute scale and Arabic numerals except at 12:00 where a triangle is used. The hour hand, minute hand, and dial markings are all treated with C3 Super-LumiNova. The seconds hand is painted red. You will note that the dial has excellent visibility due to the use of an anti-reflective sapphire crystal that also guards against scratches. Date mechanics have been removed from the movement, eliminating ghost clicks.

This model comes with an Oxblood leather strap with matching stitching. The buckle is signed (i.e. Islander logo). You can change up the look with a military-style nylon strap and any of our leather straps. The lug width is 20mm.

The ISL-109 Pilot watch features a screw down crown with knurled logo, which provides a water resistance rating of 100 meters.
